[To You, From Me] Sharing Mississippi Success with the World

Mississippi has been in the news quite a bit in 2022. Unfortunately, not always for the right reasons.

As someone who was born in the Magnolia State and glad to call Mississippi home, I get asked all the time about the things that are being reported about the state. Though I know we have our share of issues, what I always say is that it's not the whole of who the people of Mississippi are or what the state represents.

When I began Mississippi Success in 2017 the goal was to share the Mississippi that I have come to know and love. Yes, we have our problems like any other state, but we are also full of individuals who make the state proud. That is what this issue of Mississippi Success is all about.

Throughout the year Mississippians and those representing the state have been showing by example what is possible and what others can become. In this issue you will see profiles of individuals who are rising and thriving, as well as encouraging us all to be better.

Some are known on the world stage. Others are heroes in their community. You'll read about how Joe Thomas, Jr., Station Manager of WYAD 94.1 FM in Yazoo City, MS, wasn't content just working for others and what motivated him to want something of his own. You'll see how Kimberly Strauss has identified her passion and is sharing it everywhere she goes.. LaDonna Marie, Maximus Wright and Patrece D. Johnson remind us of what can happen when you are doing what you love. Additionally, Felicia Brookins, bestselling author and overall great individual, is riding high while her gifts make room for her and others.

What I want this issue of Mississippi Success to do is remind you to embrace your own greatness and not allow others to dim your light. Sure we have dark times or might find ourselves in situations that aren't ideal, but that doesn't mean we can't continue to thrive.

May you find encouragement to continue blazing your own path to success and inspiring others to do the same.

Happy Reading!
